SOCIAL INCLUSION?
COUNT US IN!
Ross Wilson Public Relations launched its social inclusion initiative in Spring 2004 to support selected community organisations and businesses which don't have the resources to fund their PR and communications activities.
The groundbreaking move is an example of a private sector business with a strong regard for social justice providing a helping hand by delivering our expertise free - and paying for out of our own profits.
This move by ourselves is believed to be unique. We know of no other PR business anywhere which uses its own profits to deliver FREE help to organisations or businesses which need it.

So what have we been doing since the Spring?
We began work with the Gallowgate Drug Prevention and Family Support Group -
a community-based drug information and advice centre operating within the
East End Social Inclusion Partnership in Glasgow. The Group also provides a
confidential service for parents and families of drug-addicted family
members.
The Group is supported financially by the East End SIP, the local health
board and Glasgow City Council.
We are providing ongoing, unlimited and free PR support for the Association
in order to help it communicate its message and assist even more
individuals. The more people know about its work, the more people can be
helped.
We have designed and published their annual report which you can read here.
It's the first time the Group has had a professionally-produced report on
their activities and it will hopefully unlock the door to new channels of
funding for their important work.
The Association now also has a website to inform the local and wider
community of its work at www.gallowgatefamilies.com. This was also provided
free.
Away from the Gallowgate Families, we sourced and obtained £5000 in funding
in 2004 and again in summer 2005 for a young people's organisation to host
its annual prize-giving in the impressive surroundings of the City Chambers
- Glasgow's seat of municipal government.

We now have public sector social inclusion clients - housing associations
providing an essential service in Glasgow. You can read more about Cernach
Housing Association on this website. We also donated £1000 from the profits
of the business to Cernach to support their work with young people.
In 2005 we widened the social inclusion sweep of our work within housing to
include Glen Oaks Housing Association, also in Glasgow, which does
outstanding and admirable work in the delivery of good housing in the Greater
Pollok area of the city.
Working closely with Chief Executive Alasdair McKee, the Association now
enjoys a higher profile and regular exposure in the media including
large-scale coverage in such newspapers as the Daily Record and the Scottish
Daily Express.
Ross Wilson said: "As a business, we place great emphasis on the social
well-being of the wider community in which we operate and healthy profits
this year and in recent years mean we can provide expertise at no cost to
the beneficiary.
"We want to do our bit to make sure disadvantaged areas serving people with
real needs should not be locked out from obtaining PR and communications
help which can be expensive and beyond the reach of many."
